Sugar House Libations, Recipes and a Giveaway!

Meet Sugar House Libations. These people make a fantastic local artisan product that will knock your socks off! If you like to make mixed drinks, bake up something original and have fun with new flavors, this product is for you! Bobby, Megan and Kenny of Sugar House Libations use the finest in Local Produce and Herbs to create these snazzy-fresh simple syrups. I personally have a little bit of a crush on their fab design style for their product. The bottle is so pretty. Like, really I am loving it. I have been saving my all-used-up bottles to re-purpose into something fun. I mean, who could stomach throwing something so lovely out in the trash? Not this gal.

I discovered Sugar House Libations at a Slow Food Utah event a few months ago. I bid on their basket of three different bottles of goodness, and I have been hooked ever since! As you might know, I don't drink alcoholic beverages, but I do like a good mixed drink or smoothie. These naturally flavored fruit and herb syrups are PERFECT for that. They have also done me proud in many different cooking endeavors including french toast, cranberry apple sauce, desserts of several varieties, and more... They add that something special to a dish that you just cant replicate. I am a fan obviously.... They were made mostly for cocktails, so if you are into that sort of thing, well, this is your juice! Look at these three, aren't they the cutest?

Sugar House Libations can be purchased at the Salt Lake City Farmer's Market and through their website (and I'm sure they will spread fall and wide.) This is a winner of a local artisan product that I plan to fiercely support. :) Go local! Take a peek at their pretty packaging..... Hubba hubba.

Let me show off some of the kitchen delights that have been born out of Sugar House Libations fabulous products!

Do you remember these Sweet Potato Pear Ginger Sweet Rolls? Oh my heavens.... These are still as dreamy as ever! Perfect for any family celebration, or just for your Sunday baking pleasure...

I haven't featured these next two recipes on the blog yet, so with no further ado, meet my flippin' favorite easy dessert: Caramel-Cinnamon-Apple Cheesecake Cups! These have been a gem. I seriously have had drooling moments with these little party lifesavers. Hate to wait for the (sometimes excessive) amount of time it takes to make a legit cheesecake? Me too. I'm usually never feeling that patient. So these are my best friends. You're gonna love em. They are personal sized delights. Buttery graham cracker crust, fresh, crunchy apple center topped with smooth fall spiced cheesecake. Don't forget the healthy drizzle of caramel on top. I die.

This apple cranberry sauce just goes to show you how wonderfully versatile SHL's syrups are. They added such a great undertone and depth of flavor to this stuff. Good all around.

Get creative and find something fun to whip together with SHL's yummies. You will be so happy you did. :)

Are you convinced yet?  I know I am. These guys are geniuses. I am so glad I stumbled onto their local goods. Thanks for putting together a great product you three!

This post will mark my first Local Product Spotlight.... I am planning on several fun local posts for the near future. I just think it is so important to support our local artisans and businesses. They work so hard and deserve a little love. So keep your eyes open for some more fun local goodies on my blog soon!

To kick it off Sugar House Libations is teaming up with me to give you a chance to Liberate yourself with some Fancy-Shmancy Libations! So quick, enter! We hope you fall in love with these syrups as much as I have.

Enjoy!

  2. Living in the mountains of NC there's no shortage of local honey. I love to eat in on biscuits, dip homemade chicken nuggets in it, or use it to sweeten smoothies!

    1. Alexis,

I looove local honey! My father and I used to raise bees when I was a kid. There is nothing like fresh raw honey! Sounds like a good way to use it too! I use honey often to sweeten my smoothies as well. Thanks for the comment! Good luck!

  4. Probably my favorite local product are the peaches and apples available from Allred Orchards, especially the apples. I look forward to them all winter, spring, and early summer and make sure I have a good supply late summer through January when they are available. They are really the best apples around. They make a wonderful snack and I use them in salads, on cereal, in lunches, in baking, in applesauce, just about anyway I can. They also have wonderful apple juice available.

  6. My favorite local item is the Juustoleipa cheese from Heber Valley Artisan Cheese. As an appetizer it can't be beat! No one ever seems to get enough and I never have left overs when toasting them up to serve ( most times they never even make it to the platter ). I am excited to think of possibly making a glaze with one of the Sugarhouse Libations or hmmmm to flavor a Balsamic Reduction?
