Yeasted Waffles With Mixed Berries And Caramel Syrup

During the summertime our family spends a lot of time up at a cabin in Bear Lake, Utah. It is so gorgeous there. The lake is an amazing shade of blue, surrounded by hills and mountains. There is so much to do there, but my favorite part about it is just taking some time away from our busy schedules and relaxing! We do end up cooking a lot while we are there, which is fine by me considering that I love to cook! My brother-in-law makes a mean smoked salmon. I'll have to get the recipe for that sometime. Last time we were there I made these yeasted waffles. They are so yummy! Do you ever eat waffles from a mix and think, these just taste like flour.... Or nothing.... Me too! These are so different from that! If you like the more yeasty flavor you let it sit overnight. If you like a more mild flavor you whip them up an hour in advance. They are fun to make too. Don't ask me why, but I love making breakfast food. Maybe its because they are usually full of carbs. He he.

The batter is thick and perfectly moist when cooked. Oooh baby!

You can cook these in a Belgium waffle iron or a regular waffle iron. Either way is fine.

Cook them to your version of perfection, and enjoy!

I served these alongside honeydew and cantaloupe.

Oh, and of course the Bear Lake usual. Mixed berries!

Since we were on vacation and all, why not indulge and smother these lovely waffles in some home made buttermilk caramel syrup? Yes please!

Can't do waffles without whipped cream. That would be all wrong.... Don't you think? I have to say this is officially drool worthy. Yup. I'm shamelessly drooling over here. Someone make these for me!! Oh wait, that would be me......
