{Tutorial} Easy Fall Grapevine Wreath And Some Cornfield Fun!

I got the cutest idea from my friend and reader Ashley Blair for a Grapevine Wreath! I have a serious love for grapevines that I can't believe I never thought of doing this before. Every year I prune my grapevine along our fence and the vines usually just go to waste. A shame now that I think back on it! My daughter Elena has been begging me to put up some more Fall decorations. She is so into decorating this year. Sadly I have never been that into decorating a ton inside my house for all the other holidays (besides Christmas of course). Sometimes a bunch of decorations make a house seem cluttered (which I can't stand) but I guess I'm going to have to get more into it for the sake of my enthused little kiddies. With that in mind I planned a nice afternoon of Fall crafting with my #1 gal! Grapevine Wreaths are so so so easy to make. You can leave them al-natural or you can get a little cutesy like we did and bring in a little glitter and flowers. Elena's favorite thing in the world is gold glittery things. Seriously. We also did some pine cone gathering and glittered them up too. It was a really fun and simple afternoon project!

Elena found this craft to be so thrilling. I let her tear or cut the leaves from the vines and get them all ready to be wound up. She was so in her element.

This was such a fun way to soak up the last rays of fall sunshine we might see for a while. I really wish this beautiful weather would stick around a while!

Start out by winding a long vine into the size of circle you want. Wrap the ends into a knot position and it should hold itself together.

Continue to wrap additional vines around the circular shape tucking ends into already wrapped vines. It can hold itself into shape if you wrap it effectively. Think of it as very loosely wrapping yarn around a pencil in your head, that's the direction we are heading. If you need to you can "flex" the vines without breaking them to get them to curve a little more.

If there are any little curly parts leave them if you like. I did and it added a little bit of character. :)

Continue to add vines until you have built up the thickness you like.

We took a little trip to Hobby Lobby to get some supplies and came home with our gold glitter and some silk flowers. When we got home we went on a pine cone hunt and found a few nice specimens. We sprayed the wreath and pine cones with our gold glitter spray and left it to dry for a few hours.

Aren't those the cutest? Even Lincoln thought this was the coolest! We sprayed a few extra pine cones to fill our iron pumpkin decoration too.

Once the wreath is all dry, bring your pine cones and wreath inside to decorate it! All you need is a glue gun and glue sticks! This is a real lazy mom project. :)

Here are all the goods. We picked up some various fall colored flowers and some wide burlap ribbon. It was just the ticket. I love the mix between the gold glitter and the more natural colors and textures of the burlap and flowers.

First I tied a large bow with the burlap ribbon. Then I laid out all the flowers and the bow to plan out the placement of the wreath accessories. Once you have a solid plan, take them off the wreath and begin to hot glue them into place. If you have it on hand, or want to be super meticulous you could use some floral wire to help secure the bow, but I didn't and it was totally fine. :)

Let the glue set for a while before you move the wreath around or hang it.

Introducing my first homemade Fall Grapevine Wreath! It won't be the last I can assure you. :) I am really happy with it. It makes my new door feel like my own. Yay!

Going along with this fall theme, I thought I would share a few little snippets from our cornfield fun from the other night. This was our first time taking our kids somewhere like this, and it was pretty fun. My favorite part about it was that we were there when the sun was going down. The light shooting through the corn stalks was beautiful!! I love nature. We are so blessed to live in such a beautiful world.

Happy FALL my friends! We have sure been loving it!

xoxo
